Our Team

The Pleasant Grove High School robotics club was formed by Michael “Buck” Young in 2006. With help from a NASA grant and hard work of the team’s founding members, this Elk Grove, CA-based group registered with FIRST as Team #2073: EagleForce, joining thousands of other high school teams participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). One of the first FIRST teams in the area, EagleForce has been mentored by St. Francis High School and Elk Grove High School, and has forged relationships with several local engineering contacts.

We are determined to increase exposure and open opportunities in technology and business with the incorporation of teamwork, friendly competition, and fun. We will continue to stay involved in our community, fundraising at neighborhood eateries, participating and assisting in numerous FIRST-style competitions, volunteer work, and mentoring rookie teams of our own.

Currently there are over sixty students enrolled in our program.  As a close-knit group of friends, we work together to meet our goals and overcome common obstacles.  Not all of us know how to build a complete robot: that’s why we work as a team, teaching new members to lead and teach in the future. Participation in FIRST competitions provides a medium for members to develop professional skills, problem-solving abilities, leadership qualities, and creative minds.

Mission Statement

We seek to achieve the extraordinary rather than the ordinary so that tomorrow will be better than today
We seek to create a reputation that Robotics involves more than building.  Many are unaware that most activities in “Robotics” do not require using a hammer.  We hope to attract members interested in leadership roles, technical careers, video animation, publicity, and accounting in future years.

Additionally, we hope to spread the FIRST world to younger students in our community.  We would like to see all nearby elementary schools with active First Lego League (FLL) teams, and possibly First Tech Challenge (FTC) teams at nearby middle and high schools.

It is our wish for students in the area to have knowledge of FIRST and have a desire to take part in it.
